Indiana Forward Kaleb Banks Enters Transfer Portal After Sophomore Season

Sophomore Kaleb Banks has entered the transfer portal after playing in just two of Indiana's final 14 games in 2023-24.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The first Hoosier to enter the transfer portal this offseason is Kaleb Banks.

Banks is a 6-foot-8 small forward who played sparingly across two seasons at Indiana under coach Mike Woodson. As a freshman in 2022-23, he appeared in 24 games off the bench and averaged 2.0 points in 5.6 minutes per game. He played just 21 games as a sophomore in 2023-24, averaging 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game.

Across his two-year career with the Hoosiers, Banks shot 45% from the field (36-for-80), 28% from 3-point range (7-for-25) and 51.1% from the free throw line (24-for-47). He showed versatility and athleticism but never panned out at Indiana.

Banks scored a career-high 12 points on Dec. 29 against Kennesaw State, but his playing time decreased significantly midway through his sophomore season. After appearing in 19 games through Jan. 19, he played just two games and eight total minutes the rest of the season.

Banks committed to Indiana in the class of 2022 out of Fayette County High School in Fayetteville, Ga. He was a four-star recruit, ranked No. 92 in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. Banks was named the Georgia Class 4A Player of the Year as a 2,000-point scorer, averaging over 23 points per game his junior and senior seasons.

With Banks entering the portal, Indiana now has four open scholarships to fill heading into the 2024-25 season.
