Omaha Transfer Frankie Fidler Has Heard From Indiana Since Entering Portal

Indiana has reportedly been in contact with Omaha transfer Frankie Fidler, a first team All-Summit League player who averaged 20.1 points and shot 35.6% from the 3-point line this year.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Another transfer portal name to keep an eye on is Omaha's Frankie Fidler.

Since entering the portal, Fidler has heard from Alabama, Indiana, Nebraska, Georgetown, Arizona State and Ole Miss, according to On3's Joe Tipton.

Fidler is a 6-foot-7 wing who can score from all over the floor. As a junior in 2023-24, he was named to the first team All-Summit League after averaging 20.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He shot 45.2% from the field, 35.6% from the 3-point line and 85.4% at the free throw line on his way to ranking 31st nationally in points per game.

Check out Fidler's highlights below.

Fidler was a three-year starter at Omaha and entered the transfer portal with one year of remaining eligibility. Indiana could certainly use Fidler's shooting after the Hoosiers ranked last in the Big Ten in 3-pointers made (166) and 12th in 3-point percentage (32.4%).

As a freshman, he averaged 12.8 points per game and shot 42.9% from 3-point range. His scoring average increased to 14.7 as a sophomore, but his 3-point shooting fell to 27.9%. Across 94 career games and 91 starts, he made 112-of-316 3-point attempts, good for 35.4%. Fidler excels at the free throw line, shooting 85.9% in his career.

Indiana will have at least three open scholarships next season, due to the graduation of Xavier Johnson and Anthony Walker, plus having left a scholarship open this season. That number could grow even greater if Hoosiers enter the transfer portal or declare for the NBA Draft. And with zero high school commitments, coach Mike Woodson will likely have to fill out the roster with transfers.
