Indiana in Contact With Mount St. Mary's Transfer Dakota Leffew

Mount St. Mary's guard Dakota Leffew has entered the transfer portal after averaging 17.6 points and being named to the first team All-MAAC as a senior in 2023-24.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana has been connected to another player in the transfer portal: Mount St. Mary's guard Dakota Leffew.

As a senior in 2023-24, Leffew was a first team All-MAAC guard for Mount St. Mary's. The 6-foot-5, 185-pound guard averaged 17.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 43% from the field, 36.5% from 3-point range and 76.5% from the free throw line.

Leffew has heard from Gonzaga, BYU, Notre Dame, Indiana, Syracuse, Clemson, Arizona State, Georgia, Minnesota, Xavier, Virginia Tech, George Mason, Richmond, VCU, College of Charleston, East Carolina, George Washington, Towson, Villanova, ETSU, Stony Brook and Loyola Chicago, according to On3's Joe Tipton on Monday. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

After coming off the bench as a freshman and sophomore, Leffew stepped into a starting role during his junior season in 2022-23. He averaged 13.1 points per game and shot 38% from the 3-point line.

Indiana ranked last in the Big Ten in 3-pointers made (166) and 12th in 3-point percentage (32.4%), and Leffew's skillset could help in that area. Across his junior and senior seasons, Leffew made 147-of-395 3-point attempts, good for 37.2%.

Indiana will have at least three open scholarships heading into the 2024-25 season, with the graduation of seniors Xavier Johnson and Anthony Walker. If any Hoosiers leave for the NBA for transfer portal, that number would grow even larger. And with zero high school commitments in the class of 2024, coach Mike Woodson will likely have to fill out the roster with transfers.
