Women's AP Top-25 Poll: Indiana Returns to No. 14 After Ohio State Loss, Buckeyes Leap Again

No. 14 Indiana women's basketball dropped four spots on Monday in the Associated Press poll — back into the place it was two weeks ago. The then-No. 10 Hoosiers fell 74-69 Sunday at No. 8 Ohio State. Meanwhile, Indiana's two Big Ten rivals both moved up.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana women’s basketball has returned to No. 14 in this week’s Associated Press top-25 poll, released Monday afternoon. The Hoosiers split games this past week, winning at unranked Maryland and losing 74-69 at No. 8 Ohio State Sunday afternoon.

The Hoosiers were No. 10 prior to Sunday’s loss and No. 14 for the week prior. Ohio State leaped to No. 5 in the country with Sunday’s top-10 win. In the past three weeks, the Buckeyes have slingshotted up 13 spots. They’re tied with No. 2 Iowa atop the Big Ten standings at 10-1. The Hoosiers are 9-2, upping the importance of hosting Michigan State on Thursday night.

As for Indiana's nonconference opponents, Stanford fell two spots to No. 6. Princeton held steady at No. 25, and Tennessee is just outside the top-25 with three votes.

South Carolina is the only team ranked higher than the Hawkeyes, moving to an unbeaten 21-0 with two blowout victories this past week. Texas and Kansas State were this week's biggest movers. The Longhorns jumped five spots to No. 7 with ranked wins over then-No. 13 Baylor on the road and then-No. 2 Kansas State at home.

Kansas State plummeted six spots after that. Baylor dropped five, and both Indiana and LSU each dropped four spots. As of now, there’s tons of varied conference representation of the top 10 teams. The Pac-12 leads with four, the Big Ten and Big 12 each have two, and the SEC and ACC each only have one — granted, it’s No. 1 South Carolina and No. 3 NC State.
