Big Ten Roundup (Aug. 11): Northwestern, Michigan Land 2024 3-Star Commits

Amidst a nightmare summer for the almost every team in the Northwestern University athletics department, Chris Collins and the NU men's basketball team have provided a glimmer of hope.

Angelo Ciaravino, a three-star shooting guard, committed to Collins and the Wildcats on Wednesday, joining KJ Windham as Northwestern's second men's basketball commit in the class of 2024.

Elsewhere in the Big Ten, coach Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines earned a commitment from Jeremiah Lowe, a three-star cornerback in the class of 2024.

Here's everything you need to know in today's Big Ten Roundup:

Angelo Ciaravino Commits to Northwestern

Just one week after coach Collins nabbed three-star KJ Windham out of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, he was able to keep the three-star Ciaravino in-state, landing the shooting guard from Chicago, Ill.

Ciaravino is entering his senior year at Mount Carmel High School, and his commitment gives Northwestern a top-50 ranked 2024 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports.

"It felt like home! Everything about it was perfect the moment I hit campus," Ciaravino told Max Feldman of MADE Hoops, discussing his commitment to Northwestern.

Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 175 pounds, Ciaravino can help Northwestern replenish its wing depth in the future, as the 'Cats no longer have Chase Audige, and in a couple of years will be without players such as Brooks Barnhizer and Ty Berry.

In addition to Mount Carmel, Ciaravino also plays AAU basketball for the Illinois Wolves, and in six games at the 2023 Sportradar Showdown, he shot 42.1% from three, according to sources with Draft Express tracking data.

Who would have thought that in 2023, Northwestern football would be the disaster beyond repair, while Northwestern men's basketball would be on the up-and-up?

Jeremiah Lowe Commits to Michigan

A three-star football commit might seem unimpressive to a football program as talented and prestigious as Michigan's, but Lowe is a big get for the Wolverines all the same.

The 5-foot-11 cornerback from Lexington, Ky., picked Michigan over Duke, Kentucky, Boston College, West Virginia and Marshall, making him the 28th commit in the Wolverines' class of 2024.
