Big Ten Roundup (Aug. 31): Jonathan Taylor Set To Miss 4 Games, Nebraska Volleyball Breaks World Record

Former Wisconsin superstar and current Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor still has not yet found a trade.

The former Badger's contract dispute and subsequent spat with team owner Jim Irsay has been one of the most important NFL stories of August. The Colts had granted Taylor and his agent permission to seek a trade, but set Tuesday as a deadline, which has already passed.

Taylor is now expected to remain on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list entering the 2023 season, which would automatically cast him on the sidelines for the first four games the Colts would play.

And in perhaps the coolest news of the week, the Nebraska volleyball team broke a world record on Wednesday in its match against Omaha.

Here's everything you need to know in today's Big Ten Roundup:

Still No Trade for Jonathan Taylor

It used to take a good bit longer for star NFL talents to get into major fights with team ownership that results in them missing regular season games.

Now entering his fourth season in Indianapolis after departing from the Wisconsin Badgers following 2019, Taylor is already entrenched in an extremely messy situation.

The Colts gave Taylor until Aug. 29 to find a trade partner, and a few of the proposed and/or rumored deals came to light this past week, namely that involving the Miami Dolphins.

According to multiple reports, Irsay called Dolphins' brass and asked for another young star at a skill position in return — Jaylen Waddle.

Given that receivers are far more highly valued than running backs at this juncture, and that Waddle is coming off a sophomore season where he led the NFL in yards per reception at 18.1, there was never any chance the Colts were getting him back in return for Taylor. There were also reports that the Green Bay Packers could be involved in a potential Taylor deal, but no significant offer has been reported as of yet.

None of this even touches on Taylor's bizarre injury saga, in which the Colts considered placing him on the Non-Football Injury list for a rumored back injury, only for Taylor himself to contradict that reporting in a tweet, claiming that he does not have back pain and was not injured

For right now, the former Wisconsin star will miss the first four games of the 2023 season due to entering the year on the PUP list. This also indicates that no trade is on the horizon, even though Taylor will not suit up against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Houston Texans, the Baltimore Ravens or the Los Angeles Rams.

This also could open the door to playing time for rookie running back out of Northwestern Evan Hull, who the Colts selected in the 5th round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Hull put together a very impressive preseason, which garnered attention from Colts' fans and NFL analysts alike.

Nebraska Volleyball's World Record

92,003.

That's how many people packed Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb., to watch the Cornhuskers' volleyball team in their fourth match of the season against Omaha. It's a new world record for attendance at a women's sporting event, surpassing the mark set in 2022 at a Barcelona vs Wolfsburg Champions League match.

Being the No. 4 ranked team in the country and playing in front of a record crowd, the Nebraska volleyball team easily swept Omaha to improve to 4-0. More importantly, the scene inside Memorial Stadium was truly special, and a testament to why every college, institution and club should be investing in women's sports.
