AP Top-25 Poll: Three Big Ten Teams in Top 7, Florida State Receives First-Place Votes

The second Associated Press Top-25 poll of the 2023 college football season was released on Tuesday. It featured three Big Ten teams in the top seven, Wisconsin at No. 19 and Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois receiving votes.

College football is officially in full swing after a Week 1 slate with plenty of notable outcomes.

The Associated Press released the second edition of its top-25 poll on Tuesday, and the back-to-back reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs remained in the No. 1 spot after cruising to a 48-7 win over UT-Martin.

There was some shakeup in the top five, though, with Ohio State dropping two spots to No. 5 after a 23-3 win at Indiana. The Buckeyes weren't quite able to pull away from the Hoosiers for most of the afternoon with new quarterback Kyle McCord, but the outcome was really never in question for most of the second half.

Alabama moved up one spot to No. 3 as a result, and Florida State looked impressive as any team in Week 1. The Seminoles defeated LSU 45-24 behind five total touchdowns from quarterback Jordan Travis, three touchdowns from wide receiver Keon Coleman and a defensive line that controlled the line of scrimmage throughout.

Florida State jumped four spots to No. 4, joining North Carolina as the week's two biggest risers. LSU dropped nine spots to No. 14 after the loss, and Clemson plummeted 16 spots to No. 25 after an embarrassing 28-7 loss at Duke.

Washington, Tennessee and Notre Dame crept into the top 10, which includes three Big Ten teams – Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State – in the top seven.

Colorado is a new team in the top 25, following a 45-42 win at then-No. 17 TCU, a team that reached the national championship game last season. Coach Deion Sanders' son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, threw for 510 yards and four touchdowns, and Colorado's Travis Hunter joined the Heisman conversation for his play at wide receiver and cornerback.
