A second Iowa Men's Basketball senior has entered the transfer portal. Patrick McCaffery went in on Wednesday, a day after Tony Perkins entered.

McCaffery, the son of Hawkeye head coach Fran McCaffery, spent five seasons in Iowa City, red shirting for one of them. The Iowa City West graduate scored more than 1,000 points during his career despite dealing with injuries and anxiety. He has continued medication from thyroid cancer he beat in junior high school.

The medication has made it difficult for the 6-foot-9 McCaffery to add weight and strength. Still, he averaged 8.9 points and 2.8 rebounds this winter, starting 15 games and averaging 23.0 minutes during his 31 contests. He missed time with a lower-body injury.

Perkins and McCaffery leaving means Iowa has nine scholarship players for the 2024-25 season. The Hawkeyes likely will add from the portal.
