It only took two weeks for the Kansas Jayhawks to have another player honored for their weekly performance, as Kansas senior center Taiyanna Jackson shared the Player of the Week honor just two weeks after Zakiyah Franklin was recognized with the same award. It is Jackson's first time earning the award.

Jackson was recognized for her 17 points and 19 rebound performance against the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Saturday, her league-leading eighth double-double on the season. It was her second straight game with at least those totals, and she also added two assists, a steal and a block. Jackson shared this week's award with Texas' Rori Harmon.

This last time that the Jayhawks earned two Big 12 Player of the Week awards on the women's side was when Jessica Washington won twice in the 2019 season. The last time two different players won the award in the same season was back in 2017, when McKenzie Calvert share the award on December 26th and Jessica Washington shared the award on January 16th.

Jackson leads the Big 12 this season in both rebounds per game (12.2) and shooting percentage (65.8). She is also second in blocks with 30 total. And according to CBB Analytics, she has been a dominant force in the paint this season, leading the Big 12 in points in the paint per game (13.2) and coming in 2nd in the conference in offensive rebounding percentage (17.9%).

Jackson and the Jayhawks are back in action Wednesday night as they open the home slate of the conference season by hosting the Texas Tech Lady Raiders at travel to Lincoln, NE to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Tip is scheduled for 6pm Central and will be televised on Big Ten Network+.
