When I started the Rock Chalk Podcast back in early 2017, the podcast world was still pretty small. Apple was pretty much the only game in town with iTunes, and a large number of people (myself included) were still distributing their podcasts on services like SoundCloud.

Since then, Spotify has entered the scene, and the podcasting world has exploded. You can now find multiple podcasts that cover pretty much any topic in the sports world from pretty much any angle. But there is one pretty glaring hole in that coverage that hits pretty close to home: podcasts that routinely cover multiple sports in the Kansas Athletics program.

Don't get me wrong, there are a LOT of great Kansas basketball podcasts. I have quite a few in my normal rotation. But while they will occasionally talk about Kansas Football or other sports when a story happens that is just too big to ignore, a lot of things slip through the cracks that are important to fans of other Kansas teams.

Similarly, there are podcasts that will cover the other sports (typically ones tied to newspaper outlets), but those publish so infrequently that it's hard to stay up to date on everything, and many good topics get left out for football, men's basketball, or general athletic department stories.

To help fill that void, I've decided to turn the Rock Chalk Podcast into a daily show as part of transitioning it to the site. This will allow me to provide frequent enough coverage to devote time to all the Kansas programs, while still hitting all the major topics that you want to hear about.

Each weekday morning, I'll be sharing the episode from that day with an article about one of the topics discussed. However, it's our first day here, and since many of you may be new to the podcast, I'd rather highlight ALL the great coverage we've had this week:

On Monday, Steve Fetch joined me to recap the disastrous performance that was the loss to Kentucky. However, while the result illuminated the deficiencies of this team, it may not have actually changed the ultimate ceiling.

On Tuesday, Sean Dee of Wide Right & Natty Lite joined me to preview that night's game against the Iowa State Cyclones. Naturally, injury and COVID news changed a lot of that analysis, but there were still plenty of analysis that was spot on.

On Wednesday, Kyle Davis joined me to recap an encouraging win over Iowa State, one that might be known from here on out as the "Yesufu game".

Today's episode starts with my recap of the week for the Kansas women's basketball team, and then Jordan Guskey of the Topeka Capitol-Journal joined me to discuss the newly-completed football recruiting class.

You can find all these episodes and more wherever you get your podcasts. Get the link for your favorite provider here: https://anchor.fm/rock-chalk-podcast
