Kansas recently received a commitment from an athlete in Missouri.

Archie Carruthers was the athlete to pull the trigger and commit to the Kansas Jayhawks on February 21st. Carruthers is a 6'3", 255 pound defensive lineman from Saint Louis, Missouri. As part of the 2024 recruiting class, he will be called upon to help fill the void that was left by multiple defensive lineman graduating or leaving for the NFL. Following his commitment, the unrated prospect spoke with Blue Wings Rising to give everyone an insight into his decision. Take a look.

“I think Kansas was the best choice for me because I loved the school from the first time I visited it,” said Carruthers when speaking to Blue Wings Rising. “It also combines great football with great programs for what I plan to study which is something very important to my family.”

“Someone who’s really helped me through the recruiting process is Coach Sam. He’s guided me and has been overall really good to me,” the committed athlete stated. “I think I bring a tough work ethic and leadership skills. On the field, I bring a motor and a deep technical understanding of my position.”

He goes in-depth and details the players he may want to join him in his journey moving forward. “Any teammates of mine at SLUH (St. Louis University High School) who are interested in Kansas? I will be encouraging, however, I’m not recruiting necessarily but I do think players should consider the University of Kansas because it is on the come up and everyone is all in on the program.”

It's well known in the recruiting world that recruiting is never over until a player signs a scholarship offer or enrolls on campus, but Carruthers was quick to shut down any of those worries. “I do plan to hopefully visit Lawrence before summer. It’s also safe to say my recruitment is definitely shut down.”
