BATON ROUGE, La. — Despite no rain coming down at Alex Box Stadium, there will be a lengthy delay before game one of the Kentucky-LSU Super Regional gets underway.

Due to what started as "an increased chances of storms throughout the afternoon, the first game of the Baton Rouge Super Regional between LSU and Kentucky is currently in a weather delay." The game, which was set to begin at 3 p.m. EST, was pushed back to 8:06 p.m. EST, then 9:06, and now to an unannounced time.

UPDATE: First pitch is now set for 10:06 p.m. EST, weather permitting.

Officials relayed that they are "monitoring the storm cells in the area."

Kentucky dealt with inclement weather when it played LSU in Baton Rouge during its regular season series back in April, as thunderstorms delayed the beginning of the third game, which the Tigers eventually won 7-6 to win the series two games to one.

When speaking with media on Friday, UK head coach Nick Mingione gave props to how LSU handled the weather that weekend, noting he had trust in the right thing being done regarding weather for the Super Regional:

"If we were to start a game or not start a game, you know, none of us want to do that. But I just have our complete trust in the people doing it. Especially the job that the staff here at LSU did last time," he said.

"You can't imagine being a coach not knowing what's going to happen, there's some gamesmanship and all, we've all had those thoughts, but the people here at LSU, they could not have done better and we would just trust them. And they know the weather better than we do. We'll trust them and I feel confident they'll make the right call. If not, we're not blaming them because we can't predict the weather."

Kentucky is in its second-ever Super Regional and is looking for its first College World Series berth in program history. Times for game two on Sunday and game three on Monday (if necessary) are still yet to be announced.
