Kentucky Drops Out of D1Baseball Top 25 After 0-4 Week

The drop in the rankings continues for Kentucky after an 0-4 week that saw a frustrating midweek loss to Louisville, then a trio of defeats on the road at Vanderbilt. The new D1Baseball poll released on Monday has dropped the Wildcats out of the poll from its No. 15 spot a week ago.
After climbing as high as No. 10, the Wildcats have continuously fell as they've lost four consecutive SEC series. The three losses to the Commodores over the weekend was the first time they've been swept all season. Now 30-13 and 11-10 in the SEC, coach Nick Mingione's group has still got some work to do if it wants to feel safe about making the NCAA Tournament.
There are six SEC teams ranked in the new poll:
- No. 1 LSU
- No. 3 South Carolina
- No. 4 Florida
- No. 5 Vanderbilt
- No. 6 Arkansas
- No. 18 Tennessee
Kentucky has 10 games left in the regular season, nine of which are in the SEC and will come against ranked foes. It'll welcome No. 3 South Carolina to Kentucky Proud Park for a crucial series this weekend. Despite losing two of three to unranked Auburn over the weekend, the Gamecocks stayed put in the rankings.
The Cats will also play No. 18 Tennessee in Knoxville and will host No. 4 Florida in the final series of the regular season. First pitch for game one between Kentucky and South Carolina on Friday, May 5 is set for 6:30 p.m. EST.
