John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats remain at the forefront of everyone's minds as we head into another college basketball season, with one week until tip-off against New Mexico State in Lexington.

Locked on College Basketball discussed the ten biggest storylines of the upcoming season on a Monday edition of the podcast and how coach Calipari handles this year's very young but very talented roster was among the top five.

"I don't think Calipari's seat is that hot yet," host Andy Patton said. "He brought in the number one recruiting class; that's what you expect John Calipari to do...the winning hasn't translated to wins in March, and that's what you have to do. I think this team has a ton of talent; if you get Zovonimir Ivisic eligible, that's a huge bonus for them."

Kentucky went 22-12 last year and lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Kansas State, another early exit for coach Cal after 2022's disastrous first-round exit to 15-seed Saint Peter's.

This year's team brought in a litany of premier freshmen talent, including Justin Edwards, DJ Wagner, Reed Sheppard, Rob Dillingham, and Ivisic - and that group, combined with returner Antonio Reeves and transfer Tre Mitchell, should keep this team in top 25 consideration and near the top of the SEC all year long.

Will it translate to wins in the Big Dance? That's the question on everyone's mind as we get closer and closer to tip-off for the 2023-24 season.
