A top PG in the 2027 class has included Kentucky in his list of finalists

Mark Pope and the Kentucky basketball staff have made moves quickly with the 2027 class. After securing a commitment from top 10 wing Ryan Hampton over the summer when he was fresh off an official visit to Lexington, the staff is searching for a few more additions. One of the top point guard targets just updated his recruitment.

According to Sam Kayser of League Ready, top 10 guard Nasir Anderson cut his list of schools over the weekend and Kentucky made the cut. The Wildcats join a list of 10 schools that includes Syracuse, Tennessee, UConn, Indiana, Virginia, Providence, Florida and Georgia. After suffering an injury over the summer, Anderson is putting his full focus on his senior season at Prolific Prep before setting up official visits over the next few months.

Kentucky has long been one of the schools recruiting Anderson the hardest and you can expect to see Lexington on his official visit stops. Assuming his schedule lines up, one to Big Blue Madness is not out of the picture. As for a decision timeline, the 6-3 guard still has visits to take, so that is still unknown right now. Here is what Anderson had to say about Kentucky in a recent interview with 247 Sports: "It is a great program, a blue blood. I would love to play for a team like that, so I'm keeping them in mind. Coach Pope has been great during the recruiting process."

As for a leader in this recruitment, it's very foggy right now given the fact that no visits have been taken, but he is a long-time UNC fan and that is worth keeping in mind as his recruitment continues to take shape and with Michael Malone looking to make a huge splash on the recruiting trail in the new era in Chapel Hill. For Kentucky, Mikhail McLean is leading the charge and has helped Kentucky stay as a top contender in this recruitment. Once visits start being taken, you can expect some recruiting momentum to pop up.

Here is a scouting report on Anderson from 247 Sports' Adam Finkelstein:

"A lefty power guard who plays with a distinct downhill style, Anderson can bully his way to the rim more effectively than arguably any other guard in the national class. He’s built almost like a football player, with a tremendously powerful upper body, good positional size, and long arms, which allows him to initiate, and then absorb, all types of contact going to his dominant side. He’s virtually unstoppable with the ball in the open court, and while he looks physically mature, he’s actually young for his grade, having turned 17 in July before his senior year. Beyond his physicality, Anderson has a tight handle, terrific balance, and body control, both on the ground and in mid-air, along with an advanced lay-up package and the vertical explosiveness to rise-up when he has momentum."
