Names to monitor in Kentucky basketball's head coach search

Watch out for these names as Kentucky looks for a new basketball coach.

For the first time in a very long time the Kentucky Wildcats will be looking for a new head basketball coach as John Calipari will take over as the next head coach at Arkansas.

Mitch Barnhart has to make a hire that will get the Kentucky basketball program back to where it has been historically.

A bunch of names have been thrown out early in regard to the Kentucky job, such as Dan Hurly, Nate Oats, Billy Donovan, and Scott Drew.

Some early reports say that Oats isn't interested, but if he is the guy Barnhart wants, he will do everything in his power to make him interested.

Hurley will be the number one guy Kentucky fans want, but it would take a lot to pull him away from UConn as he is a win this evening over Purdue away from back-to-back National Championships.

Drew is a name that has been floated around, but it feels like this wouldn't be the splash hire that Big Blue Nation is wanting.

Donovan would be a great hire as he won back-to-back NCAA Championships at Florida, but he has been in the NBA for a long time and would have to adjust to the new world of college basketball.

Oats is a name that would make Kentucky fans happy, but it looks like landing the Final Four coach won't be as easy as many imagined.

Barnhart has a lot of pressure on his shoulders as he tries to find the perfect candidate for this job in Lexington.
