Kentucky fans leave sign in John Calipari's front yard

Kentucky fans send a farewell message to John Calipari.

Coach John Calipari is making the move from coaching the Kentucky Wildcats to being the new head man at Arkansas after Eric Musselman left for USC.

This left some Kentucky fans jumping for joy and some upset that Calipari would no longer be the face of the program.

There is no question that it hasn't been going well for Coach Calipari as the Wildcats have lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament two of the last three years and haven't made a deep run since 2019, where the Wildcats lost to Auburn in the Elite Eight.

Now, Kentucky Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart is actively looking for a new head coach, and it seems like this decision could be made in the next few days.

Some of the fans who will miss Coach Calipari left him a message in his front yard as he likely gets ready to make the move to Fayetteville. The message said, "Thank you, Cal. We (heart) you."

Just because the honeymoon stage has been over for a while now doesn't mean there weren't a ton of great memories made during the Calipari era. His first few years in Lexington were filled with deep tournament runs and a National Championship.

The coaching search will get interesting as Barnhart tries to hit the hire out of the ballpark. The Wildcats need to make sure they get this hire right because Big Blue Nation can't take any more first-round exits in the NCAA Tournament.

A decision will more than likely be made before the week finishes, and the new coach will have to immediately get on the recruiting trail.
