Kentucky baseball sweeps the Alabama Crimson Tide

The Bat Cats red hot.

The Kentucky Wildcats baseball team has gotten off to a blazing hot start to SEC play, and they haven't slowed down after a series sweep of the #11 Alabama Crimson Tide.

It wasn't even a competitive series, as the Wildcats outscored the Crimson Tide 23-3 during the weekend.

Heading into this season, you felt pretty good about the pitching for this Kentucky team, but there were some question marks about the lineup. These questions have been answered, as this team is hitting the ball really well as we are now four seasons into SEC play.

Alabama is a really good baseball team that could host a Regional, and the Wildcats looked like the better team during the entire weekend.

The Wildcats are now 11-1 in SEC play and will host a Regional if they stay on this pace. If Nick Mingione's team continues to play like this, they could even host a Super Regional.

Coach Mingione's teams love to run on the base paths and do the little things well, and that has been no different this season. They also make routine plays in the field, and that is all a championship-winning recipe.

As always in the SEC, the road won't get much easier for the Wildcats as series against Auburn on the road, Tennessee at home, and South Carolina on the road are coming up.

The Wildcats have been playing well away from Kentucky Proud Park, as they are 5-1 in SEC games away from home. Big Blue Nation will have something to enjoy over these next few months as the Wildcats could make it to Omaha.
