Kentucky is going to lose a bunch of players from the 2023-24 roster to the NBA Draft and transfer portal. Luckily, the Wildcats have six talented players coming in via the 2024 recruiting class, but John Calipari will still need to add a few players via the portal.

Based on what we expect to have back from last season and the players coming in, the Wildcats will need to add a big man and a scoring guard from the portal.

Coach Calipari has reached out to two players in the portal so far, one being the big man from Rutgers, but most recently, the staff is after former Milwaukee guard BJ Freeman.

Last season at Milwaukee, Freeman averaged 21.1 points per game, which was 16th best in all of college hoops. He also averaged 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists. It's great to see that Freeman isn't afraid to help on the boards because Kentucky will need that next season.

Freeman is a big guard similar to Antonio Reeves, standing 6'6 and weighing 200 pounds. Reeves shot better from three at his previous stop at 39% than Freeman did this season at Milwaukee (35.1%), but this would be a similar addition.

A big scoring guard who can shoot, get to the rim, defend, and help on the boards is exactly what the Wildcats are looking for, so adding Freeman would be huge for the 2024-25 team.

Coach Calipari is getting to the portal early this season and reaching out to some of the best players hopefully putting the team ahead of the eight ball.
