The Cardinals are coming off of their fifth consecutive trip to the Elite Eight.

Press Release from the University of Louisville:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Head coach Jeff Walz and the University of Louisville women's basketball team have announced their non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season. The Cardinals will play 13 games in their non-conference slate, seven of those games will be held at home and they will play in a multi-team event in Houston over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The season opener will be away from home for the second time in the last three years and the ninth time overall under Walz. The Cardinals will travel up I-71 to take on Cincinnati on Monday, November 6 to open up the season. The Cardinals faced off with Cincinnati in the 2022-23 opener and came away with an 87-68 win at the KFC Yum! Center. Louisville is 13-3 overall in season openers during Walz's tenure.

The home opener will be almost one week later on Sunday, November 12 against DePaul and it starts a three-game homestand. The Cardinals faced DePaul in Chicago prior to the Christmas break last season and came away with an 81-67 win over the Blue Demons. Louisville is 14-2 all-time in home openers under Walz.

Up next at home is local foe Bellarmine on Thursday, November 16. The Cardinals are 13-2 all-time against the Knights and traveled to their former home arena, Freedom Hall, last season. In the Cardinals former home, Louisville came away with a 73-43 win.

Louisville finishes the three-game homestand with Bucknell on Sunday, November 19. It will be the first matchup all-time between the Cardinals and Bison.

The Cardinals will travel to the Lone Star state for the Thanksgiving break as they will compete in the 2023 Van Chancellor Classic in Houston. The Cardinals will open the tournament with a matchup against Liberty on Friday, November 24. On Saturday, the Cardinals will face Gonzaga for the third-straight season. To close out the tournament, the Cardinals will square off with Tulsa on Sunday.

Following the tournament, the Cardinals will stay out on the road for the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge. The Cardinals will be in Oxford to take on Ole Miss on Wednesday, November 29. It will be a rematch from the Sweet 16 last season when the Cardinals defeated the Rebels 72-62 to advance to their fifth-straight Elite Eight.

Louisville is the only program in the country that has made each of the last five Elite Eights.Louisville returns home as four of the final five games of the non-conference schedule will be played at the KFC Yum! Center. Up first is a visit from NC A&T on Sunday, December 3. It will be the first meeting all-time between the Cardinals and Aggies.

The annual Battle 4 the Bluegrass is next as the Cardinals and Wildcats will face off on Sunday, December 10. The Cardinals have won six games in a row over the Wildcats after the 86-72 win in Lexington last season. It is the longest winning streak for the Cardinals in the history of the series.

Another Bluegrass state foe is up next for the Cardinals as Morehead State comes to the KFC Yum! Center on Wednesday, December 13. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2008 and the Cardinals hold a 17-10 all-time advantage over the Eagles.

The final road game of the non-conference schedule will be a familiar place as the Cardinals head to Connecticut to take on UConn on Saturday, December 16. The game will either be held in Hartford or Storrs but it will be announced at a later date. The last time the two teams met, Louisville won 69-64 at Mohegan Sun in 2021.

The final game of the non-conference schedule will take place on Wednesday, December 20 at home against Washington. This will be the second all-time meeting between the two schools after they first met in 2021. In the first meeting, Louisville defeated Washington 61-53.

The ACC schedule will be announced in September to complete the full 2023-24 schedule for the Cardinals. Fans can still purchase season tickets for the upcoming season. All season ticket info can be found here.
