LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With the 2023-24 women's college basketball season roughly three weeks away, the Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll has finally dropped.

The Cardinals garnered 308 votes in the preseason edition of the AP Top 25, landing at No. 17 in the poll. It marks the 13th straight year that Louisville has landed in the preseason AP Top 25.

Louisville went 26-12 overall for the 2022-23 season, experiencing their first double-digit loss season since their 2011-12 campaign. Despite having a "down year" by their typically lofty standards, the Cardinals saved their best basketball for the postseason. They made the ACC Championship game as a No. 4 seed, then clinched their fifth-straight appearance in the Elite Eight before falling to national runner-up Iowa in the NCAA Tournament.

Following the end of last season, Louisville had an extremely busy offseason. The program lost 11 players to ether graduation or the transfer portal, with only Olivia Cochran, Nyla Harris and Alexia Mobley and Merissah Russell returning.

Conversely, the head coach Jeff Walz and the Cardinals are welcoming a lot of new faces. D1 transfers Jayda Curry, Kiki Jefferson, Eylia Love, Hennie van Schaik, Nina Rickards and Sydney Taylor; plus 2023 prospect Eseosa Imafidon are joining for year 17 under Walz.

Louisville will tip off the 2023-24 season at Cincinnati on Monday, Nov. 6 at 6:00 p.m.
