LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville men’s basketball program has made the cut for one of their top targets in the Class of 2024.
Camden (N.J.) HS forward Billy Richmond announced his list of top eight schools on Saturday, and the Cardinals are still in the running for his commitment. Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, Memphis, Miami and Texas also made the cut.
Richmond was originally offered by the Cardinals this past September, and was one of the first programs to offer him a scholarship. He currently holds 14 Division I scholarship offers, with schools like Alabama, Kansas State, UConn and Villanova also involved.
He also has a plethora of connections to both Louisville and their staff. Milt Wagner, who serves as the Director of Player Development and Alumni Relations and is No. 6 all-time in scoring at Louisville, played also played his high school ball at Camden. Pervis Ellison, who is one of just five players to have his jersey retired by the Cardinals, serves as one of the program directors for his AAU team, the N.J. Scholars.
The 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing ranks as high as the No. 8 small forward and No. 20 prospect in the nation, according to ESPN. He is considered a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, coming in at No. 33 overall by the metric.
Richmond has been incredibly productive on the court over the past calendar year. He averaged 13.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the N.J. Scholars during the Nike Peach Jam last month, and 18 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game over the entire Nike EYBL with the Scholars. During his junior season with Camden, he put up 12.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals over 23 games.
Louisville currently sports just one commitment in the 2024 cycle, coming from Montclair (N.J.) Immaculate Conception point guard T.J. Robinson. Including Richmond, nine uncommitted prospects in the class currently hold a Louisville offer.
