LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The two most prolific quarterbacks in the history of the Louisville football program are now on the same NFL roster.

Former Louisville star quarterback Malik Cunningham has been signed by the Baltimore Ravens off of the New England Patriots' practice squad, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Cunningham will take a spot on the Ravens' 53-man roster, according to Schefter.

“I wanted to thank Mr Kraft and Coach Belichick for giving me opportunity to play with the Patriots," Cunningham told Schefter. "I learned a lot from them. I want to be a coach one day, so I would take notes from coach Belichick because he’s one of the greatest of all time. I had great teammates in New England and built relationships that will last a lifetime. But I just feel like this is a good opportunity for me and I’m excited to be a Baltimore Raven.”

Cunningham was picked up by New England as an undrafted free agent following April's NFL Draft, and inked a three-year deal with the Patriots back in October, but has spent most of his time in Foxboro on the practice squad. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound signal caller was subbed in during the Patriots' week six game at the Raiders but logged no stats, and has been active for the last two weeks but has not seen the field.

With the move to Baltimore, Cunningham is reunited with another former Louisville star quarterback in Lamar Jackson. The two both played for the Cardinals in 2017, when Jackson was a junior and coming off of his Heisman Trophy campaign the year before, and Cunningham was a true freshman.

While Jackson still holds numerous Louisville records, Cunningham was able to break or match a couple of his records during his six years as a Cardinal. His 120 touchdowns responsible for are the most in Louisville history, his 12,848 career yards rank second to Jackson, and his 50 career rushing touchdowns are tied with the former Heisman Trophy winner.

His 3,184 rushing yards rank third in school history behind Jackson and Walter Peacock, his 9,664 career passing yards rank fourth and his 70 career passing touchdowns rank fifth.
