LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program's continued efforts to try and land the best talent in the state of Kentucky are continuing to pay off.

Dillon Smith, a Class of 2025 defensive end who plays just south of Cincinnati at Union (Ky.) Ryle, announced Friday that he has committed to the Cardinals.

Smith has made multiple visits to Louisville over the last several months. He attended a practice during spring ball earlier this week, attended the program's Junior Day this past January, and also paid a visit during the Cardinals' game against Duke last October.

While the only scholarship offer that Smith held was from Louisville, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound is actually one of the top 2025 prospects in the Commonwealth. According to 247Sports' in-house rankings, Smith ranks as the No. 11 player in the state of the Kentucky and the No. 103 defensive lineman in the nation.

Smith is coming off of a very strong junior season for Ryle. In 13 games, Smith collected 56 total tackles, eight sacks and snagged three interceptions, helping the Raiders go 8-5 and reach the KHSAA Class 6A quarterfinals.

Smith is now the fourth commitment in Louisville's 2025 recruiting class. He joins Oxford (Ala.) HS quarterback Mason Mims, Goshen (Ky.) North Oldham lineman Gradey Anthony and Westerville (Oh.) North offensive lineman Jake Cook.
