LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Head coach Jeff Brohm and the Louisville football program are continuing to bolster their depth at the quarterback position thanks to the transfer portal.

Harrison Bailey, a former five-star prospect who spent the 2022 campaign at UNLV before entering the transfer portal last month, announced Thursday that he has committed to the Cardinals. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining, and will be joining UofL as a preferred walk-on (PWO).

The towering 6-foot-5, 225-pound signal caller played sparingly with the Rebels this past season. Making appearances in six games, he went 30-for-58 for 318 yards and two touchdowns to one interception. His best performance came when he went 16-of-27 for 209 yards and two touchdowns in UNLV’s 27-22 comeback win against Nevada on Nov. 26.

Bailey spent the first two years of his collegiate career with Tennessee, but also saw limited time with the Volunteers. He was 48-for-68 for 578 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in six appearances during his true freshman campaign. However, he went on to make just one appearance in 2021, going 3-for-7 for 16 yards against Tennessee Tech, before entering the portal during UT’s bye week.

The Marietta (Ga.) HS product was one of the top prospects in of the Class of 2020, ranking as high as the No. 30 recruit in the nation according to Rivals. He held offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and other before signing with the Vols coming out of high school. He threw for 4,271 yards and 44 touchdowns as a senior, and finished his high school career fourth in Georgia high school history with 11,716 passing yards.

Louisville has now added a trio of quarterbacks to their roster through the transfer portal. Jack Plummer came over from Cal while Brady Allen transferred in from Purdue, with both having prior experience with Jeff Brohm.

Louisville has been incredibly active in the transfer portal since Brohm was hired in December. While the Cardinals have lost 21 scholarship players via the portal since the end of the 2022 regular season, they have added 23 scholarship players over the offseason, and nine since spring ball ended on Apr. 21.
