Report: Three Louisville Offensive Lineman to Enter Transfer Portal

All three lineman joined the Cardinals as transfers from Houston at some point in time.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program was always going to have some players enter the portal when the spring transfer window arrived, and now those dominoes are starting to fall.

Offensive lineman Lance Robinson, Trevonte Sylvester and Reuben Unije - who all played previously at Houston at some point in time - all plan to enter the transfer portal, according to On3's Pete Nakos. Victor Cutler was originally set to enter as well, before informing Nakos that he would be staying at Louisville.

The trio of lineman are the first Louisville players set to enter the portal in the 15-day spring transfer window, which will officially open on Tuesday, Apr. 16. The Cardinals have now had 20 players overall transfer out of the program in this cycle, not including Unije, who joined UofL via the portal earlier in the offseason.

Robinson joined Louisville last offseason after spending the 2022 season with the Cougars. This past season, due to NCAA transfer rules at the time, he could not see the field until the Holiday Bowl against USC, playing 42 snaps at right guard. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound lineman had been taking starting reps at right guard during the course of spring ball.

Sylvester also joined Louisville last offseason from Houston, spending his first three years in H-Town. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound lineman played 68 snaps across nine games this past season, all at left tackle. He even had a one-yard trick play touchdown reception in the win over Miami.

As for Unije, he had spent the last four years of his career at with the Cougars before deciding to transfer to Louisville this past January. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive tackle started 11 games this past season for UofH, only missing their season-finale against UCF. In 439 pass-blocking snaps and 679 blocking snaps overall, all coming at right tackle, Unije allowed only five sacks, three quarterback hits and 22 pressures.

While Louisville has seen a lot of players transfer out, they have done a good job at countering their losses. So far, they have landed 25 commitments via the portal up to this point, sporting On3's No. 1 portal class in college football.

The Cardinals finished their 2023 season with an overall mark of 10-4 (7-1 in ACC) including a berth in the program's first ever ACC Championship Game. Year two under head coach Jeff Brohm is scheduled to kick off against Austin Peay on Saturday, Aug. 31 at L&N Stadium.
