Louisville Makes Top Three for '24 DL Xavier Porter

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program continues to generate momentum out on the recruiting trails.
Xavier Porter, a defensive lineman who hails from Tampa (Fla.) Catholic, announced his list of top three schools on Monday with the Cardinals making the cut. Penn State and Kansas are also in the running.
Porter was one of 11 prospects to take an official visit to UofL during the first weekend of June, then subsequently took visits to both the Nittany Lions and Jayhawks afterwards. He told 247Sports after his Louisville visit that he plans to "make a decision in July."
The 6-foot-2, 280-pound lineman, who plays both at tackle and edge rusher, ranks as high as the No. 23 defensive end in the 2024 cycle and the No. 55 prospect in the talent-rich state of Florida, according to Rivals. He comes in as the No. 658 prospect in the class by the 247Sports Composite.
Porter had a productive junior season for Tampa Catholic, collecting 50 tackles and two sacks in 11 games. He helped the Crusaders go 9-2 on the 2022 season, including a berth in the Florida Class 2M regional semifinals. He also participates in the shot put and discus in track & field.
Louisville currently boasts a 12-man 2024 class. With the aid of three big recruiting weekends in the month of June, the Cardinals have landed four commitments over the past eight days.
