LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Henry Davis is officially getting the call to The Show.

The former Louisville catcher, who was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2021 MLB Draft, is getting promoted to the big leagues, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Jason Mackey. Davis is in line to make his Major League debut on Monday when the Pirates host the Cubs at PNC Park, according to Mackey.

Davis will be the second former Cardinal to make his MLB debut this season, joining right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller, who was called up by the Los Angeles Dodgers back in May.

The 6-foot-0, 220-pound backstop had a brief stay at the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate, the Indianapolis Indians, slashing .286/.432/.514 with a home run and three RBI in 10 games. He began the season at Pittsburgh's Double-A affiliate, the Altoona Curve, hitting .284/.433/.547 with 10 homers, 27 RBI, seven doubles and 32 walks in 41 games. According to MLB.com, Davis is regarded as the No. 44 prospect in baseball, and No. 3 in the Pirates' system.

During his junior season at Louisville in 2021, the Bedford, N.Y. native was not only one of the best hitters in the ACC, but in all of Division I baseball. He led the Cardinals with a .370 batting average, collected 15 home runs and 48 RBIs, led the league in on-base percentage (.482), and ranked in the top ten in the conference in batting average, hits, home runs, RBIs, total bases and slugging percentage. Defensively, he also threw out over 46 percent of potential base stealers.

That season, Davis was a named a unanimous All-American, a finalist for the Buster Posey Award, and a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy. He also became the fourth former Cardinal to be drafted at No. 1 overall in their league's respective draft, joining Pervis Ellison (NBA, 1989), Angel McCoughtry (WNBA, 2009) and Andrew Farrell (MLS, 2013)
