HOUSTON - Capping off their weekend in the Shriners Children's College Classic, the Louisville baseball program took it to Michigan in their third and final game of the event, winning 10-0 in seven innings via run-rule walk-off Sunday at Minute Maid Park.

The No. 4 Cardinals (10-1) conclude their stay in the Astros' ballpark with a perfect 3-0 mark, blasting No. 12 Texas A&M 14-5 on Friday and defeating No. 10 TCU 3-2 on Saturday before run-ruling the Wolverines (4-7). Louisville was the only team in the six-team field to not lose a game, thus were announced as the champions of the 2023 Shriners Children's College Classic.

Once again, Louisville got a phenomenal performance from their starter on the mound down in Houston, this time from Carson Liggett (7.0 IP, 7 K, 2 BB, 1 H). The right-hander carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning, set a career-high in strikeouts, and didn't let any of Michigan's three base runners reach scoring position.

Eight different Cardinals logged a base hit, and six drove in runs. Logan Beard (1-2, HR, 3 RBI, BB) and J.T. Benson (1-3, HR, 2 RBI) each launched home runs, while Jack Payton (3-4, RBI) and Eddie King Jr. (2-4, RBI, 2B) had multi-hit days.

The majority of Louisville's offense came in the third inning when the Cardinals put up a six-spot, plating all six runs with two outs in the frame. Patrick Forbes (1-4, RBI, 2B) laced an RBI double, King followed that up with an RBI base hit of his own, Isaac Humphrey (1-2, BB) scored on a fielding error, then Beard launched a three-run home run.

Their remaining four runs came in the latter three innings of the contest. Benson stuck a two-run home run in the fifth, Payton collected an RBI single in the sixth, then Noah Smith (1-5, RBI, 2B) walked off Michigan with an RBI double.

Next up for Louisville, they'll kick off a nine-game homestand at Jim Patterson Stadium with a midweek matchup against Morehead State. First pitch is slated for Tuesday, Mar. 7 at 3:00 p.m. EST, and will be televised on ACC Network Extra and broadcast on 93.9 The Ville.
