LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Continuing on their ACC-opening series against Georgia Tech, the Louisville baseball program fell short in game two of the weekend tilt, losing 10-4 Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium.

The No. 2 Cardinals (16-2, 1-1 ACC), who took game one of the series the night before via walk-off, sees their 11-game win streak come to an end at the hands of the Yellow Jackets (14-5, 3-2 ACC). It had been their longest streak since opening up the 2018 season with 14 consecutive wins

Louisville struggled with cashing in on golden opportunities in the would-be series-clinching game, hitting just 5-of-20 with runners on base and 2-of-15 with runner in scoring position. J.T Benson (3-5, RBI) and Patrick Forbes (2-5) finished with multi-hit days, and the duo combined for half of the Cards' hits on the day.

Georgia Tech got almost whatever they wanted against Louisville starter Greg Farone (3.1 IP, 4 K, 2 BB, 9 H, 5 ER). The left-hander had only allowed six hits and four earned runs in his combined five appearances and 17.0 inning pitched heading into the matchup, and surpassed both totals in this game alone.

Tech plated the first five runs of matchup off of Farone, collecting a solo home run and RBI single in the second, then a three-run blast in the third. Logan Beard (1-4, RBI, 3B) chipped into the deficit with a groundout RBI in the third, but then GT answered back with another solo homer in the fifth off of reliever Kaleb Corbett (3.2 IP, 4 K, 1 BB, 1 H, 1 ER)

Corbett was able to pitch a scoreless sixth and seventh inning, as did Evan Webster (1.1 IP, 2 H) in the eighth, but the Jackets caught up to the bullpen in the ninth. They chased out both Webster and Alex Galvan (0.0, 2 BB, 2 ER), then tallied two RBI singles and a sacrifice fly off of Kayden Campbell (0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER) to plate four runs in the final frame.

Over at the plate, Louisville was unable to get the run support needed to mount a comeback. They put up a three-spot in the fifth courtesy of a Jack Payton (1-4, RBI, 3B, BB) RBI triple, a Ryan McCoy (0-4, RBI, BB) groundout RBI and a Benson RBI single, but that was all the remaining offense they could generate.

Next up for Louisville, they'll cap off their ACC-opening weekend with a rubber match against Georgia Tech. First pitch of the series finale is slated for Sunday, Mar. 19 at 1:00 p.m. EST, and will be televised on ACC Network Extra and broadcast on 93.9 The Ville.
