LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Former Louisville catcher and current Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Dalton Rushing has made the roster for the 2023 iteration of the All-Star Futures Game, Major League Baseball announced Monday.

The All-Star Futures Game in an exhibition that pits the top prospects in both the American and National Leagues against each other in a seven inning contest. It's part of MLB's annual All-Star Week, with this year's Futures Game taking place on Saturday, July 8 at 4:00 p.m. EST from T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Wash.

Rushing is currently in his second season in the minor leagues after being selected in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Dodgers with the No. 40 overall pick. He has spent the entire 2023 season with Los Angeles' High-A affiliate, the Great Lake Loons, where he is batting .263/.438/.500 with seven home runs, 32 RBI, 14 doubles and 42 walks in 48 games. He's regarded as the No. 51 prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.

Taking over as Louisville's full-time catcher in 2022 after Henry Davis was taken at No. 1 overall in the 2021 MLB Draft, Rushing turned in one of the best power-hitting seasons in school history. In 64 games and 63 starts, he posted a .310/.470/.686 slash line along with 23 home runs, 62 RBIs, 16 doubles and 50 walks.

That season, the Brighton, Tenn. native ranked in the top 10 in the ACC in walks, HBPs, home runs, on base percentage and runs (68), and came within striking distance of the Louisville single-season home run record of 25, set by Chris Dominguez in 2009.

Rushing was named a Second-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, and a Third-Team All-American by the ABCA and Perfect Game. He was also a Second-Team All-ACC selection, with Georgia Tech's Kevin Parada named the First-Team catcher.
