Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers continue navigating offseason work in Baton Rouge with the program wrapping up Day 4 of Spring Camp on Tuesday morning.

After reconstructing the roster this offseason, Kiffin and Co. have seen competition brewing across the first week and a half of spring ball with newcomers turning heads.

"I think as you look at each position, we look at each position as like its own team. Meaning, when we get here, how can we make that room the best that we can from top to bottom? I believe that's something that we've done really well," Kiffin said on Tuesday.

"And not just the headline guys. a place that How do you build it? Because that impacts special teams too, and it impacts even the bottom of how do you practice on scout team on the other side? So kind of a constant trying to make our roster the best we can."

LSU added over 50 newcomers to the roster with significant turnover on offense - specifically in the running back and wide receiver rooms.

But there is a certain level of excitement in the running back room with Harlem Berry and Caden Durham returning for the 2026 season - alongside the talented quartet of Transfer Portal signings.

Kiffin revealed his excitement level of the running back room and the program's thought process on rebuilding the depth.

"With the running back room, like many offensive positions, there were not many numbers left. To go in and add people of different ages, different skill sets was really, really critical. And that'll be a very open competition like everything here. It doesn't matter if you've been here before, how many stars that you were, or where you're from. That's not how we evaluate," Kiffin said.

"That's not how we do depth charts, right or wrong. It's just how we do it because I want to sit in here in front of the team and they understand, okay, if we're going to preach competition and how things are done. I think over time you'll see players that aren't marquee names starting over, maybe marquee names or recruits or stars and those things."

Now, as offseason work continues, Kiffin continues evaluating his roster with a two-deep depth chart emerging across Spring Camp in the Bayou State.
