There is no doubt that the Maryland men's college basketball team is arguably the best in the nation. The Terrapins are in the heat of a conference title race, as they have sole possession of first place in the Big Ten after defeating Illinois on Friday.

Head coach Mark Turgeon has led Maryland to a 19-4 record, which includes the defeat of two ranked teams during their six game win streak.

The Terrapins seem to be a team on a mission, almost impossible to slow down with their quality roster playing to expectation.

As for the Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-16), they are having a season to forget. They are on an eight game losing streak, sitting at second to last place in the Big Ten.

HC Fred Hoiberg

The 2019-20 season could not be any worse for Hoiberg, in his first season as the Nebraska Cornhuskers' head coach. His team recently lost to No. 21 Iowa 96-72. Prior to coaching at Nebraska, he led Iowa State to four-straight NCAA tournaments in the 2011-14 seasons.

G Cam Mack

He is the Cornhuskers' leader in points and assists, averaging 13 points and 6.4 assists per game. The sophomore guard from Austin, Texas has been inconsistent to say the least, making 41.4 percent of his shots from the field and struggles from the free throw line with a 58.4 conversion percentage.

G Thorir Thorbjarnarson

The 6-foot-6 guard from Iceland might be the Cornhuskers' best player. He leads the team with a 50 percent field goal percentage, 71 percent from the free throw line, and 44.6 percent from behind the arc.

Injuries to note

Nebraska could be without two of their starters in their matchup with Maryland. Dachon Burke has the flu and Haanif Cheatham has a calf contusion. Both are expected to be out against the Terrapins.

Burke averaged 11.4 points per game while Cheatham averaged 11.9 points. Thorbjarnarson and junior guard Jervay Green will likely see extended playing time in their absence.

Prediction

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been winless on the road with an 0-8 record and have a 2-10 conference record. Considering they could be without two starters and they have struggled the entire season, expect Maryland to win easily at home at the Xfinity Center.
