On Saturday, Miami fans at Mark Light Field got more of a treat than just the shakes on Saturday night. The No. 22 Hurricanes cruised past the Dartmouth Big Green to notch a 6-0 shutout win, powered by dominant pitching and bats that were as explosive as ever.

The hitters came alive early on in the game, as Dorian Gonzalez ripped a 3-run home run out to right field to get the Hurricanes on the board with the early 3-0 lead.

After four innings, Miami jumped out to lead the Big Green 5-0 after Dominic Pitelli and Edgardo Villegas each added runs batted in.

Later on in the sixth inning, Carlos Perez launched a solo shot of his own to make it 6-0 Hurricanes.

However, the true headline of Miami’s night came from the mound. Sophomore pitcher Karson Ligon started the game for Miami, and dominated from his first pitch to the last.

Ligon struck out six batters over seven innings pitched, in which the Sarasota, Fla. native did not allow a single run in his outing.

The pitching dominance continued in relief as senior Carlos Lequerica took the mound, making it look as if Ligon had never left the game.

Lequerica struck out four of the eight batters he faced in the remaining two innings, to finish off Dartmouth for good. Miami’s pitching combined for 10 strikeouts out of all the batters they faced.

Saturday’s shutout win over Dartmouth was the first for the Hurricanes this season, and most certainly does not look like it will be the last.

On Sunday, Miami absolutely dominated Dartmouth, winning 20-2. It was a no-contest from early on.

Miami's Alejandro Rosario got the win off the bump, having allowed only 2 earned runs.

Jason Torres connected on a 3-run homer for his first career hit, to give the Canes their last three runs of the day. They pounded out 21 hits on the afternoon.
