The No. 9-national-seeded Miami Hurricanes were bested at home for the second time in the tournament by the Texas Longhorns, this time to the tune of a 10-6 football score. The Horns defeated the Canes Saturday night 4-1 thanks to a career night by Lebarron Johnson Jr.

The Hurricanes worked their way out of the elimination round 8-5 against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns early Sunday afternoon. The Canes were riding the hot bat of Yohandy Morales into the first of what would have been two straight matchups with the Longhorns if Miami beat UT on Sunday night.

Miami jumped out to a sizable 3-0 lead in the second inning, for Dominic Pitelli sent a three-run home run over the right-field fence. Ronaldo Gallo downed all six batters he faced in the first two innings, but the third inning was when Miami lost the ballgame.

Gallo found himself in a jam when he hung a slow pitch to Texas' Jared Thomas who hit an RBI double. With two runners on, Peyton Powell hit a two-RBI single to tie the ballgame.

Miami brought in relief pitcher Carlos Lequerica to stop the bleeding, but the Longhorns were out for just that: blood.

Texas' Garret Guillemette continued the offensive onslaught with a two-RBI double to give Texas a two-run lead. Then, to make matters worse for Miami, Jalin Flores took a high-breaking ball and smoked it over the center-field fence for a grand slam, pushing the lead to six for the Longhorns.

Texas added an insurance run in the sixth and Miami rebounded with a three-run seventh inning thanks to Morales' three-run home run. It was the last score of the game for either team and Texas cruised to the NCAA super regionals.

From the bullpen to hitting, the Hurricanes were seemingly outmatched by the burnt-orange bats and arms.

The Hurricanes finish the season with a 42-21 overall record while going 18-12 in ACC play.
