If you told a Miami Hurricanes fan in the early 2000s that in 20 years we'd have a better basketball team than football team, they'd likely laugh. However today that is the reality, as Miami is gaining momentum heading into March.

As of Monday afternoon, the Week 16 AP Poll has the Hurricanes at #13. This comes following wins this past week over Wake Forest (17-10) and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (16-11).

A large part of recent success has been the improvement of transfer guard Nijel Pack, who averaged 23.5 points, 3.0 steals and 57% from three in the last two games. After a slow start to the season, Pack has come alive and will be instrumental for this team going forward.

This week, Miami will be tasked with Virginia Tech (16-11) on the road Tuesday and then play host to the Florida State Seminoles (8-20) on Saturday.

With a clean sweep this week, Miami will be hoping that Virginia (21-4) loses one of their next four games to give the Hurricanes a chance to win the ACC title at home March 4th against Pitt (19-8).

The AP Poll for Week 16 is as follows:

1. Houston (48)

2. Alabama (7)

3. Kansas (7)

4. UCLA

5. Purdue

6. Virginia

7. Arizona

8. Texas

9. Baylor

10. Marquette

11. Tennessee

12. Gonzaga

13. Miami FL

19. Creighton

20. Providence

21. Northwestern

24. TCU

25. Texas A&M
