Taking Inventory Of Michigan Basketball, Juwan Howard

Juwan Howard set the bar very high in year one, but since then there have been some notable ups and downs.

In this story:

Michigan basketball hasn't been dominant or consistent this year, but the Wolverines are riding a three-game winning streak right now, which certainly comes at a good time. Juwan Howard and Co. have plenty of chances to impress and bolster their resume over the final seven regular season games.

Howard won an outright Big Ten title in year one, but since then there have been some less than ideal occurrences. At one point last year, the Wolverines won a game then lost the next one 16 times in a row, with only once exception. Of course, the maize and blue did make it to the Sweet 16, so that incredible run of inconsistency was glossed over a bit. This year, it's been more of the same. The Wolverines have stacked up a couple of nice wins, but they're canceled out by some really bad losses. Now, Michigan is 14-10 with just seven games left. If they have any hopes of making the NCAA Tournament, they have to make a run starting this weekend against Indiana.

Throw in the fact that Howard has had a few non-on court issues with his behavior, and some have started to wonder if he's the man for the job long term. The idea of Howard's seat being a tad warm has been floated by some, but for now he's in no danger of losing his job. However, if the inconsistency continues and/or there's another emotional outburst or character knock...

We discuss the whole concept in the video below.
