Most people aren't thinking about Michigan basketball yet, but the Wolverines have been doing some summer practices and Juwan Howard is still hoping to fill the final two scholarship slots heading into 2023-24.

Meanwhile, Michigan released its roster for the upcoming season with the players that are currently on the roster.

There are some noticeable differences from last season to this year when you check out each of the Michigan basketball players. A few players bulked up and gained weight, while others may lose some to gain for quickness on the court.

Here is what the roster looks like as of now:

Thoughts:

The biggest weight gainer from a year ago is Youssef Khayat going up 20-pounds from last season. Michigan will need some production from the foreign basketball stud. Khayat played sparingly a season ago, trying to get used to the American game, but if he can bang around down low and shoot the ball from the perimeter -- the Wolverines should be able to use him quite a bit.

Point guard Dug McDaniel also buffed up a ton this off-season. He gained 15-pounds of muscle and that should really help with durability this season. McDaniel will play a ton of minutes for Michigan.

Tarris Reed Jr. is a huge man coming in at 265-pounds in his sophomore season. If he can stay out of foul trouble, he should be a force down low for the Wolverines. However, Michigan is currently missing a backup center, but maybe Howard can pull one in via the transfer portal. Tray Jackson and Will Tschetter would probably see some minutes at the '5' if the season began now.

Also, freshman guard George Washington III wearing No. 40 is -- different. You don't see many guards wearing numbers in the 40s.
