Dusty May, Michigan Basketball Linked To Another Quality Transfer Portal Hooper

Dusty May and Co. haven't nabbed any players from the transfer portal yet but they have been linked to several good ones.

Michigan basketball fans are excited about what Dusty May will do now that he's running the show in Ann Arbor. He has already hired three outstanding, young assistant coaches and has been linked to several solid players in the transfer portal, including a few of his own from Florida Atlantic.

The latest name linked to May and the Wolverines is Wichita State guard Colby Rogers. The Atlhetic's college basketball analyst Tobias Bass recently tweeted out Rogers' plans to virtually meet with three programs, including Michigan.

Even in today's world of transfers and NIL chasers, Rogers has been around the block more than most. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it is worth noting .He's from Georgia but spent his final two high school years hooping in New Jersery. After high school, Rogers spent his first two seasons at Cal-Poly. Then he transferred to Siena before spending the last two years at Wichita State. Now, he'll finish out his collegiate career at one more stop. This past season with the Shockers, Rogers started all 34 games and averaged a team-high 16.4 points per game. He also broke the single season school record with 99 made three-pointers while shooting 40.9% from beyond the arc, tops in the AAC. Rogers also gets it done in the classroom, evidenced by being named to the Fall Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a 4.0 GPA.

He's the exact kind of player that May is looking for in year one at Michigan. He needs experienced guys who play a heady brand of basketball and can really shoot it. That's Rogers. There's no sense of who might lead for Rogers at this time, so these Zoom calls will be quite important moving forward.
