Four New Positive COVID-19 Cases At Michigan, Eight Total

Michigan released its latest coronavirus testing results on Friday, and the number of positive cases once again doubled.

In an effort to continually test the student athletes and staff on campus, the University of Michigan released the results of its most recent round of COVID-19 testing. Previously, U-M had found four positive cases among the hundreds of tests administered, and that number doubled in the latest batch of testing conducted on July 13 and 14.

Student-athlete tests for COVID-19, to date (all tests): 485

Positive Tests: 8

Staff member tests: 150

Positive tests: 0

Total tests administered (student-athletes + coaches/ staff): 635

Positive tests: 8

Latest testing date: July 13 & 14

Total individuals (student-athletes + coaches/ staff) tested on July 13 & 14: 121

Once again, the positive cases of COVID-19 among student athletes and staff members has doubled, just as it did the week prior. However, Michigan is still reporting some of the lowest numbers in the country regarding the matter, so it is unclear how the situation is going to play out, but the Big Ten has already made the move to cancel all non-conference contests for the fall sports season as a precautionary measure.
