Is Blake Corum Video Game Elite?

In this story:

If you love college football, chances are you have played EA Sports NCAA Football at some point in your life. You may not be an avid gamer, but you're probably at least aware of the game and also aware that a new version hasn't been made since Denard Robinson adorned the cover nearly 10 years ago.

With the game set to return next summer, the college football and gamer world are set to collide and the reception is expected to be absolutely huge. In the spirit of the game returning, the folks at Pro Football Focus have put together a list of the five players who are worthy of the coveted "99 overall" rating.

Landing on that list, is none other than Michigan running back Blake Corum. The folks at PFF have always loved Corum because he simply doesn't make mistakes and always seems to have a few big plays in him. In the write up below, you can tell that they've been watching No. 2 run all over Big Ten defenses.

Corum’s 96.2 grade this past season didn’t just lead all players in the country, it was the highest single-season grade by a Power Five player in the PFF College era. The three players behind him — Kyle Pitts, Chase Young and Quinnen Williams — were all selected top five of their respective drafts. While Corum likely won’t join them since he plays running back, it shows the elite company he’s in. His 96 rushing first downs/touchdowns ranked the second-most in the country behind only Minnesota’s Mohamed Ibrahim, who received 72 more carries. Corum’s best attribute is his elite agility while having a low center of gravity at 5-foot-8, 210 pounds.

Corum, along with Donovan Edwards, who would likely have a 90+ rating as well, form the best two-headed rushing attack in the country, and will be a major part of Michigan's third-straight elite season. Throw in a junior JJ McCarthy, plenty of pass-catching weapons, a potentially dominant offensive line and an entire defensive unit devoid of holes, and you have the making of a Michigan TEAM that might receiver a 99 overall rating.
