Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Or in Shemy Schembechler's case, say/like stupid stuff, get treated accordingly.

Just three days ago, it became known that Jim Harbaugh had added Shemy Schembechler, the son of legendary coach Bo Schembechler, to his recruiting staff. The move seemed fine from a resumé standpoint, but given how everything recently transpired involving Dr. Robert Anderson and Bo Schembechler, it kind of made you wonder, why even go down the road?

Now here we are on Saturday, and after some very disturbing, racially charged opinions and ideas were liked on Twitter by Shemy, the newly appointed staffer has "resigned". Athletic director Warde Manuel and football coach Jim Harbaugh released a statement earlier today.

"We are aware of some comments and likes on social media that have caused concern and pain for individuals in our community. Michigan Athletics is fully committed to a place where our coaches, staff and student-athletes feel welcome and where we fully support the University's and Athletic Department's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion."

Schembechler spent many years in the NFL serving as a scout, most recently for the Las Vegas Raiders since 2019. Before his work with the Raiders, he also worked for the Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins.
