Jim Harbaugh has done a phenomenal job at adding talent to his already talented roster via the transfer portal over the last few seasons. In 2019, he snagged Mike Danna from Central Michigan and he's now playing in the league.

In 2021, Daylen Baldwin added depth to the wide receiver room and Alan Bowman did the same for the quarterback group. Neither played much, but they became a solid part of the team. Last year was the first time Harbaugh landed major contributors in center Olu Oluwatimi and EDGE rusher Eyabi Okie.

Now, there are several players who may not only contribute, but start and shine for the Wolverines in 2023. Along the offensive line, center Drake Nugent, and versatile pieces La'Darius Henderson and Myles Hinton could conceivably all start. Linebacker Ernest Hausmann may end up being one of the best defenders on the team. AJ Barner is going to be the second tight end and should provide major leadership and depth at the position. EDGE rusher Josaiah Stewart legitimately looks like the second coming of Danna. He should see the field quite a bit. And finally, Harbaugh recently picked up specialists James Turner from Louisville and Hudson Hollenbeck from Mississippi State to fill the voids left by Jake Moody and Brad Robbins. It's really been masterful what Harbaugh has done.

Now, Harbaugh and Co. appear to have targeted another potential contributor. Per On3, Michigan is one of several schools that has reached out to former Ole Miss defensive lineman Tywone Malone.

The big fella is originally from New Jersey and was recruited hard by then-Michigan assistants Anthony Campanile and Chris Partridge back during the 2021 recruiting cycle. Obviously, Partridge took a job at Ole Miss, which is where Malone ended up. With Partridge back in Ann Arbor, one would think that U-M has a great chance and landing the big athlete. He's also heard from Miami, Michigan State, Penn State, Florida State, Ohio State, USC and Oregon.
