Michigan Doing Something Only One Other Team In The Country Is Doing

In this story:
Michigan is easily 4-0 after defeating East Carolina 30-3, UNLV 35-7, Bowling Green 31-6 and Rutgers 31-7. With those scores, Michigan has the No. 1 scoring defense in the country, allowing just 5.8 points per game. No other defense is below 8.5. The four-game start also marks the first time since 1971 that Michigan has held each of its opponents to seven points or fewer.

Also notably, Michigan is just one of eight teams in the country to win each game by at least 14 points.
Only 8 teams can say they've won every game by 14+ points 👀

And to take it a step further, Michigan and Washington are the only two programs nationally to win each game by at least 24 points.
So even though fans, media and even the players and coaches at Michigan seem to think that the running game is a bit broken, the Wolverines have still been dominant in a rare way. Even though the secondary just played its first full game as an intact unit, the defense has still been stifling. Even though JJ McCarthy isn't putting up gaudy numbers, he's still viewed as one of the sharpest, most impressive signal callers in the nation. And finally, even though Jim Harbaugh has only been on the sidelines for one game in 2023 after serving a three-game suspension, he's still viewed as a premier coach with one of the best, if not the best, overall teams in the entire college football world.
