Kris Jenkins Predicted To Win A Major Award In 2023

In this story:
Fall camps are set to open around college football in the coming days. Michigan will open its fall camp on August 2 -- it's almost football time.
But in the meantime, different outlets continue their predictions for the 2023 football season.
Shockingly, Blake Corum wasn't predicted to win the Doak Walker Award for the nation's best running back. In the article, Ole Miss' running back Quinshon Judkins is predicted to win the award.
However, Michigan didn't go unnoticed when predicting the major award winners. 247Sports has Kris Jenkins winning the Outland Trophy for being the best interior defensive lineman.
Kris Jenkins is a disrupter on Michigan's defensive line. He broke out in 2022, totaling 54 tackles (29 solo) and two sacks. His presence feeds the Wolverines' quest for a third-straight College Football Playoff appearance. Still, he doesn't consider himself a star, which is echoed by Michigan's defense.
"It's still gonna be the no-star defense," Jenkins said at Big Ten Media Days. "We continue to embody that. We play as a unit; we play together; we're not going to separate ourselves based on whatever. We always play together. There's so many dogs and talented players we got on this defense, but we play for each other. Just looking forward to dominate with each other."
This isn't the first big prediction coming Jenkins' way. He has been connected by NFL draft experts as being a first-round selection in next April's NFL draft.
Jenkins was an All-Big Ten player a season ago. His 54 tackles led the entire Michigan defensive line in 2022 and he has the ability to play all over the line if needed. He has the size to stuff the run but has the motor to get off the line and get to the quarterback if Michigan needs him to do that.
