In this story:

While the buzz surrounding soon-to-be ex-Wolverines remains at an all-time high with the NFL Draft just two weeks away, Michigan can also look forward to plenty of their returning players next season.

Though the announcement came as a surprise to some, running back Blake Corum will be back for his senior season after missing the home stretch in 2022 due to a knee injury.

Corum had himself a year last season, giving a reason for Michigan fans to be beyond excited about his upcoming season. And to add to the excitement, Bleacher Report put the senior at the top of his position class ahead of next season, writing:

Considering how well he played in 2022, Michigan back Blake Corum absolutely could have headed to the NFL. That outcome felt even more likely after his late-season knee injury, too.

Corum had other plans, and the reigning Big Ten champions are thrilled about it.

Before that injury, Corum was firmly on the Heisman Trophy radar. He scored at least once in all of his 11 healthy appearances, ending the season with 19 total touchdowns. He scampered for 1,463 yards—the 11th-most in the country—and added 11 receptions.

Corum and Donovan Edwards can easily be labeled one of the nation's top backfield tandems.

Leading the offense is certainly in the cards for the 5-8, 210-pounder, though it isn't just the Wolverines he leads. Last season, Corum finished top-10 in total rushing yards, touchdowns and yards per game across the NCAA, and proved time and time again why his presence is a massive safety blanket for the Wolverines.

Coming off of a disappointing loss to TCU in the Fiesta Bowl without Corum, the Wolverines will look to once again make waves in the College Football Playoff, hoping to add a title to their resume in 2023 and, if one thing is certain, Corum will be essential to that goal.

Honorable Mentions

Kansas State's Cooper Beebe was recognized as the top senior interior lineman by Bleacher Report, but Michigan's Zak Zinter came in just behind the Wildcat.

Michigan has leaned on a powerful offensive line to reach the College Football Playoff in each of the last two seasons. Zak Zinter was a key contributor in both years, starting at right guard for the Big Ten champs.

On the other side of the ball, Clemson's Tyler Davis was named the top senior interior defensive lineman, while Kris Jenkins came in just behind the top spot.

Kris Jenkins didn't attract much attention because of his role, but the space-eating lineman certainly would have deserved it. He tallied 54 takedowns with 3.5 tackles for loss while doing the unglamorous work of plugging run lanes and occupying blockers in the middle.
