In this story:

Michigan football is looking to add some big-bodied wide receivers through the transfer portal. The Wolverines already offered Indiana transfer Donavan McCulley -- but all indications are starting to point for him to go back to Indiana and withdraw from the transfer portal.

But the Wolverines aren't going to stop there. On Friday, Michigan extended an offer to Wake Forest transfer Jahmal Banks.

Banks went to Wake Forest in the 2020 cycle. He hails from Baltimore (MD) St. Frances Academy where he was a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports.

He played sparingly in the first two seasons in 2020 and 2021, but Banks became a mainstay for the Deacons in 2022 and 2023. Banks caught 101 passes for 1,289 yards and 13 touchdowns in the past two seasons at Wake Forest -- he has been the No. 1 WR there.

Banks has prototypical outside size standing at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds. He has the ability to go up and catch a jump ball, something Michigan hasn't had since Nico Collins.

Michigan will be losing Cornelius Johnson and most likely Roman Wilson as well. The Wolverines are clearly looking to re-tool their receiving corps and add some taller players to the equation.

Banks has visited Wisconsin and Notre Dame. He has been in contact with Purdue, West Virginia, and Minnesota, among others since he entered the transfer portal. Banks is the 61st-ranked player in the portal and the No. 15 WR, according to 247Sports.
