Michigan Earns 'A+' From CBS Sports For Week Two Performance

The No. 2 Michigan Wolverines had another solid win in their week two matchup against UNLV, winning by a score of 35-7. Once again, quarterback JJ McCarthy was sharp, efficient, and on target for the entire afternoon - finishing the game completing 22-of-25 attempts for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wide receiver Roman Wilson also put together another solid performance, finishing with four receptions for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns - bringing his season total to 5 touchdown receptions (good for No. 1 in the Big Ten).
Led by senior running back Blake Corum, the rushing game also improved from week one to week two, as Michigan finished the afternoon with a total of 179 yards on the ground. Corum ran for a season-high 80 yards and 3 touchdowns on 15 carries, though he's still not satisfied with the rushing performance so far.
“Definitely not satisfied with my performance today,” said Corum. “Definitely feel like I could have done more. It’s just it's part of the process of coming back. I feel like I'm I'm almost there. Almost there. Those runs that y'all saw me do last year, you guys saw me break last year. It's almost there. It's coming. But definitely not satisfied today. Great team win. Me personally, I'm always hard on myself. So definitely going back to the drawing board. You know, seeing where I can get better, and come back next week guns blazing.”
Although there's still clearly room for improvement as the Wolverines move into week three, CBS Sports recently handed out grades for week two performances across the college football landscape - and the Michigan Wolverines received a perfect A+.
Here's what CBS Sports had to say:
Grade: A+
Michigan played "Michigan football" in the 35-7 win over UNLV. Running back Blake Corum rushed for three touchdowns and the defense didn't allow a score until garbage time in the 35-7 win in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It wasn't pretty to outsiders, but it was perfect for the Michigan fan base.
The Wolverines will look to continue their winning streak against Bowling Green this weekend in Ann Arbor for primetime game under the lights. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 and the game will be aired on the Big Ten Network (BTN).
