Michigan QB Commit Jadyn Davis Named Top Player In North Carolina

For the second straight year, Providence Day's Jadyn Davis has been named best football player in the state of North Carolina.

For the second straight year, Providence Day's Jadyn Davis has been named best player in the state of North Carolina. The 6-0, 202 pound four-star prospect received the state's top high school football award on Tuesday, becoming the first player in the state to win the award more than once.

In his two seasons with Providence Day, Davis helped lead the chargers to an overall record of 24-2, including back-to-back state championships.

“It was special, just being blessed enough to win the award last year,” Davis told the Charlotte Observer. “It’s always harder to stay on top of the mountain and being a winner again this year, I think is just a true testament to my work ethic and how I view myself and my teammates. I wouldn’t be here without my teammates, and coach (Chad) Grier and the whole (coaching staff. I’m just really appreciative of this honor because it really is an honor.”

Davis, one of the top quarterback prospects in the nation for the 2024 class,  committed to play for the Wolverines back in March. He joins 24 other commitments currently in the class, including his current Providence Day teammate Channing Goodwin

Through his four years as a high school quarterback, Davis accounted for 111 touchdowns and 9,366 yards through the air. Over the summer, Davis competed in Nike's Elite 11 event in Los Angeles, where he earned his spot among the top 11 out of 20 participants. Although Davis received mixed reactions during the first two days from the various recruiting outlets covering the event, the highly-rated prospect out of Charlotte (NC) put together a solid day three performance in the 7-on-7 drills - finishing 11-of-15 with 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

At this point, It's hard to say when Davis will have his number called once he arrives in Ann Arbor. Michigan's current QB1, JJ McCarthy, has once again put together a stellar season, and he'll have a big decision to make at the end of the year when it comes to the NFL. There's also whispers that Michigan has expressed interest in QB Dante Moore, who entered the transfer portal earlier this week after his freshman season at UCLA.

Regardless of how the QB situation at Michigan plays out in the near-term, it's clear that the Wolverines are getting an incredible talent in Davis.
