Three Michigan Football Players Selected In The First Round In CBS Mock Draft

In this story:
On Thursday, Josh Edwards with CBS Sports came out with an updated 2024 NFL mock draft. Recently, J.J. McCarthy has been the only Wolverine mentioned on CBS Sports when they come out with their mock drafts, but after a 7-0 start, Michigan has three players listed in this particular mock draft.
McCarthy, as of recent weeks, has been listed as a top-10 pick and he's been mocked as high as the sixth pick in the draft. But Edwards sees McCarthy potential taking a slide. In his updated draft, Edwards has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking McCarthy with the No. 20 pick in the draft. This would be a good landing spot for the junior. If Tampa Bay could re-sign Mike Evans to pair with Chris Godwin, McCarthy would have two high-level receivers at his disposal.
Baker Mayfield has been good this season but last week against the Lions was more of the old Baker. NFL teams do not just pass up franchise quarterback play so Mayfield being on his fourth team in three years should tell you how the league views him. The race for QB3 is still on but we go J.J. McCarthy in this instance.
The next Wolverine taken is G Zak Zinter. Zinter has been receiving first-round grades and he's one of the premier guards in college. It wouldn't be shocking to see him go in the first round. Edwards has San Francisco taking Zinter with the No. 30 pick. The 49ers took Jake Moody and Ronnie Bell last year and both have been good, solid picks. John Lynch might want to keep that connection going.
San Francisco has three offensive linemen among the top 64 in most pressures allowed, according to TruMedia. The 49ers allowed pressure on 50% of their dropbacks, which was the most of any team in Week 6.
Right after Zinter, Edwards has the Kansas City Chiefs taking Kris Jenkins at No. 31. Jenkins is one of the leaders on the Michigan defense and he would go from one winning team to the next in this situation. The Chiefs are always looking to add good defensive linemen to their team and Jenkins would fit the bill.
It is difficult to envision Kansas City allowing Chris Jones to leave town but the reality is that he is a free agent after the season. The position is a need even with Jones. Kris Jenkins adds to the room.
